I reviewed EVERY Adult Coloring App I could find for the iPad on the App Store, and subscribed to every trial and subscription available, with the goal to find the BEST Digital Coloring App for Adults…

And I did!

I ended up with 100 digital coloring apps, all claiming to be made for “adults” (some were definitely not), and many charging ridiculous subscription prices for the features they offered. I was even scammed by a few apps, and caught out some copycats!

But after hours of filtering through *not so great* apps, I also found some amazing coloring apps with great features, and spent about an hour in each, seeing just how far I could take their tools to create digital art.

BLOG POST:

The 12 ‘finalist’ apps were Pigment, Recolor, Chroma, Marvel Color Your Own, Colorfly, Colorfy, Lake: Coloring Books & Journal, Adult Coloring Book Color Page, Tayasui Color, Calmeleon, InColor and Color Pop.

  1. Try Procreate too it has a big variety of brushes. we can change the opacity and size of the brush . We can import colour palettes and even create our own palettes

  2. Reminder since you asked 🙂

Cancel the subscription for the app(s) 😀

  3. I loved pigment never seen it before can eliminate some of my coloring books and supplies

  4. I also tried a few, but then they were not coloring apps but apps where you draw something and yk, and the best I came with was Color, but I would like if some people can comment some other apps that work like Color (i mean not fill in with this) because I still don´t know if I made the right choise… 🙂

  5. Hi I was gonna find the best coloring app and I’m trying the coloring apps that you said that are the best and I’m trying to see the best for me and so far I got the coloring app, lake and pigment but I can’t find the coloring app

  6. Thank you for your review on the apps. I just started color by number coloring too. ❤😊

  7. I know this is one year ago but if you look back on this you should really really try procreate it has blending it has all types of brushes you can choose your own colours and it is so much fun it’s so creative as well it’s for adults and kids and for especially for really really good artists professionals

  8. Try art set if. You havent i writers this comment in the middel of the vid😂 art set 4

  9. I use color pop, I do agree it doesn’t have enough brushes and stuff, but I like it! It’s very relaxing to me 🙂

  10. I have happy coloring by number and i love it. there are easy and difficult coloring pages

  11. *:..。o○𝓲𝓽𝓼 𝓽𝓸𝓬𝓪 𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓲 ○o。..:* says:

I don't know if you have done Pen up since I'm halfway through the vision but IT'S AMAZING MOST DEFINITELY SHOULD TRY IT!

  12. I really like the Pigment app. I’m just using the free version because I don’t use it every day. 🙂

  13. The issue I had with all of them is they try to be too 'helpful' If they just had a good brush that could build pigment like a real colored pencil with easy access to size and pigment saturation. Add blending options and that would be enough. Ok, if you want it to keep you within the lines, that should be an option. All the rest of the special effects and instant fills just make it feel like painting by numbers. The actual artistic part in doing coloring seems to be gone. If I wanted a paint by numbers experience, I'd get into diamond painting where everyone ends up with the same perfect image.

  14. If you have a Android then Penup should be accseable for you it's a coloring and drawing appp🤪

  15. Did you remember to cancel the subscription

  16. ℍ𝕠𝕨 𝕕𝕚𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕕𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕚ℙ𝕒𝕕 ℙ𝕣𝕠

  17. can you take photos like colofy in pigment

  18. Pixel Art! It's not really a coloring book, but I love it!!

  19. I haven't finished this entire video yet, but I'm addicted to April Coloring! It's Paint By Number, there are new pictures daily, categories to unlock, and you use your finger/stylus to paint versus one-click. I've been using the app for years!

  20. Sarah, I enjoy your posts and products immensely! I can’t believe I missed this one! I laughed so hard when you mentioned Pigment using hex codes, especially since I just started spending time with Pigment! What sold me into going Premium was that feature and guess what is sitting next to me, My Color Cubes I purchased through you!! Also, if I need a color scheme quick I just bring up the color catalogs on my other screen! Yep, I am your Color Cube poster child. Thank you for all you do!! ~Melody

  21. I'm fascinated by the lake colouring app because i like the muted colour palette and the mood tracking aspect of it… but i can't find it on my App Store 😭

  22. I am looking for Calmeleon, but they don’t offer it in the US. I have one very similar called “Color Number” and I am obsessed with it to help me wind down after a long work day. Calmeleon looks super similar, but it won’t let me download it 🙁

  23. I tried doing it, but I don’t. I have storage full.

  24. I think someone needs to fix the captions because it looks like it got thrown at the beginning for a few seconds before disappearing. And from the large text I managed to see, it probably had all of it when it should have been sorted out throughout the video.

  25. Heyyyy is it just me or yall cant find the colour fly app either help me out plz

  26. Use penup and i bis . ❤❤❤❤❤❤ 😅

  27. For those interested in color by number, I’ve found “Gallery: Coloring Book and Decor” to be a solid one. It is, as the name implies, more of a gamefied version, with a level system and a home decorating plot. For someone who is just looking to find numbers and click them, it’s got a ton of free pages available to color, and is constantly running events with even more pages being added

  28. I import coloring pages into procreate and color it like that 😂

  29. if someone knows about any coloring app by number that allows to color manually tell me please 🙁

  30. I am actually a child and in my birthday I am going to get a new iPad since my old one doesn’t really work well these apps are kind a good even though it’s an adult. I don’t really kinda mind .

  31. Hello does anyone know any software or app thru which we can create drawing and fill color in it with hand motion.

  32. Can we appreciate how annoying any bots are

  33. are there any apps that use landscape for coloring.

  34. I use Happy Color almost every day! It’s so amazing

  35. Thanks for doing the hard work for us! New iPad owner and I got the Apple Pencil, so just getting into digital arts and coloring.

I will likely pay for Pigment and use Recolor in the free version. I am bummed about Chroma. It is appealing, but the Cst Service and App support seems nonexistent. No updates in 5 years so it’s too buggy now from recent reviews. Too bad. Otherwise it had potential and a great price point, but not if it’s unsupported. I may check out Lake and see what I think. The mindfulness & journaling aspect is interesting.

My favorite color by number for mindless relaxing is Zen Color. The free version is pretty fantastic for this kind of app. Lots of great pictures, new images all the time and the adds aren’t horrible. They only pop up before or after, not while you’re in the middle. Unless you want to earn free hints by watching extra ads. The price to go ad free isn’t bad – $9.99. I find the music relaxing. I’ve been doing one before bed. They also let you share and you get bonus images by doing a certain amount of coloring in different areas. Example 3 nature pictures gets you a bonus picture. But even without that there’s lots of images available for free.

  36. I have a lot of space and I love drawing so I’m gonna download all of them😂😂
